While you may be wondering 'why would I want to drink a gross shake when I can have a delicious burger?' Well for the obvious reason, burgers aren't the healthiest food to eat when just looking to fill our stomach and satisfy your hunger. Yes, burgers contain variable amounts of protein from red meat and perhaps includes vegetables, but it is also loaded with calories usually beyond the recommended amount of calorie intake for that meal or even sometimes for the whole day. Don't forget about those fries that are included with the meal 90 percent of the time. And cheese? Add all of that up and you're looking at a monstrous amount of calories and carbohydrates. Why is this bad? Well if you are an average american that does't get enough exercise and tend to over eat during meals, all of those extra unused calories will be converted and stored as body fat. We all know what too much body fat causes right? Well if you don't know, obesity is the lading cause for most health related disease such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, arterial disease, and many more issues that may stem from obesity. Burgers are only one example and not even the best example in terms of foods loaded with empty calories. Empty calories are calories within foods that have little or zero nutritional value and are simply expelled through the body or stored as fat.
